Veterinary Fees - Illness and Injury (Standard Cover)

We will pay up to the Benefit Limit shown in the Schedule for Treatment and/or for Complimentary Medicine for your horse. The Benefit Limit is applied seperately to every unrelated Injury, Illness or Condition claimed for.

We will pay up to the Benefit Limit shown in the Schedule for Treatment and/or for Complimentary Medicine for your horse. The Benefit Limit is applied seperately to every unrelated Injury claimed for.

Public liability

Where property is damaged or someone is killed, injured or becomes ill as a result of an incident involving your horse and where you are being held legally responsible.

Horse Trailer

We will pay the Market Value; the Price Paid; or the amount shown in Your Schedule (whichever is the lesser) if Your Horse Trailer is lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed during the Policy Period.

Personal Accident and Dental Cover

If You are Riding Your Horse and You are killed, injured, or become ill, We will pay up to the Benefit Limit in respect of Bodily Injury, Permanent Blindness, Loss of Limb, Permanent Total Disablement and/or Dental Treatment.

Personal Accident Cover up to £10,000 and Dental Cover up to £750.

Please note: Personal Accident & Dental Cover covers riders aged 18 to 75.

Death of Horse

Death of Horse cover is an optional extra. If you require Death of Horse cover the minimum we can insure your Horse for is £500 up to £6,000 on our Standard Horse policy. If your Horse is 20 years and over , you can only be insured up to £1,500 for accident related death only.

To insure at the value of £4,000 and over, we need a 2 Stage vetting certificate. To insure at the value of £5,000 and over, or to add Loss of Use to the policy we need a 5 Stage Vetting Certificate. The vetting must be valid and no older than 30 days. The original certificate should be sent to us within the first 14 days of cover.

Permanent Loss of Use (LOU)

We will pay the Market Value; the Price Paid; or the amount shown in Your Schedule (whichever is the lesser) if Your Horse is permanently injured, or becomes ill, and is prevented from taking part in the Activities listed in Your Schedule."

Vetting Requirements

Please note the minimum vetting requirements we need are listed below, and ensure you have checked which veterinary certificate applies to your application. The vetting certificate must be valid and no older than 30 days. If we do not receive the original vetting certificate within the first 14 days of the policy being taken out, then your insurance policy will be cancelled.

A BVA mortality certificate for:

All foals aged between 30 days to 1 year

A BVA Stage 5 certificate:

Any horse at the value of £4,500 and over
Loss of use any value (loss of use limited from 4 to 12 years old only)

Note If you own a horse or are its main keeper, you are responsible for making sure you have an up-to-date horse passport so your horse can be identified. If your horse does not have a valid passport this could invalidate your insurance.
